"Hi, I am Paul Taylor and I have worked for City Electric Supply for 31 Years. Since starting with City Electric Supply in 1984, I have worked my way up from Van Driver to Group / State Manager (NSW). I started my career in Reading Branch (UK) where I met Noel Ponty who has been the biggest influence on my career to date. Noel (who was the Branch Manager) really instilled great customer service and professionalism in his staff, as well as making sure that they all went home at the end of the day with a smile on their face. After progressing to Branch Manager in the UK, I was given the opportunity to be a Branch Manager in Dubai. After 5 years in Dubai I was promoted to Group Manager and then in 2014 I moved to Sydney to take up my current role. I don’t really have an average day! My main focus is supporting our current Branches but I am also responsible for expanding our Branch network in NSW so I am constantly on the lookout for new premises and staff members. Working with the Branches is, without doubt, my favourite part of my job. I love working with the fantastic team of positive people we have. I find it very rewarding to see team members, of all levels, succeed in their roles from their own hard work, initiative and effort. City Electric Supply is such a positive company to work for. It’s a family owned business which genuinely does look after its employees and wants them to succeed. The company still feels like a ‘small’ business where the owners and senior management are accessible to all employees. When I was a branch manager, I always felt that it was my own business, with the backing and experience of a massive multinational Electrical Wholesaling business. I would recommend working for CES and do on a daily basis! I feel I have, and continue to have, a fantastic career with CES. With hard work, a positive attitude, readiness to learn and focus on customer service you can go far, as CES believes in promoting from within the company."
"Hi, my name is Jess. I started working for City Electric Supply in 2012 as a Sales Assistant at Wangara branch. I’d never worked in a wholesaler before and there was a lot to learn, but it was such a great opportunity to dive straight in! I’d heard from other people in the industry that it was a good company to work for and that there were great opportunities for promotion. I really wasn't aware of how big the CES worldwide company was… they only had 3 branches in Western Australia at the time! I’m now the Stores Manager (2IC) at Balcatta branch and I’ve been doing that for the past 10 months. I love the team at the branch, they just want to succeed and make the branch successful. What’s my average day? Good question! Most of my time is spent helping customers to source what they need from our stores or from our suppliers. Having a free delivery service also means I have to plan the day to make sure we can do as many site and home deliveries as possible. On top of that Balcatta is a new branch so I’m constantly looking at new product lines to extend our range. Being involved in setting up Balcatta branch from the start has been really challenging but the greatest experience at the same time. One day I would love the same opportunity as a Branch Manager but I have a bit to learn before then! I really like that CES hasn’t forgotten that it’s a family business. We are not just numbers or that person who delivers electrical goods, we all have names. The senior managers treat you with respect and are always willing to help or offer advice. It’s great that they have all worked their way up through the branches to their current positions. Would I recommend working for CES? Absolutely YES!"
